Role Summary
The Cashier serves as one of the primary faces of CARNE, creating a welcoming and positive experience for every guest. This position is responsible for operating the point-of-sale system, processing transactions accurately, assisting customers with purchases, and providing knowledgeable, friendly service throughout the marketplace and eatery.
The ideal candidate is personable, detail-oriented, dependable, and genuinely enjoys helping people.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide exceptional customer service.
- Accurately process transactions through the POS system, Square.
- Handle cash, credit card, gift card, and mobile payment transactions.
- Assist guests with marketplace purchases, prepared foods, and eatery orders.
- Answer customer questions regarding products, menu items, and store offerings.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of checkout and customer-facing areas.
- Restock merchandise, beverages, and marketplace displays as needed.
- Assist with packaging orders and coordinating takeout pickups.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs.
- Support overall store operations and contribute to a positive guest experience.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous cashier, retail, restaurant, or customer service experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, positive, and professional demeanor.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling transactions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
- Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Interest in food, cooking, premium meats, or local products is a plus.
